The purpose of conducting random student drug testing is to enforce a drug-free educational environment, deter students’ use of illegal drugs, and to educate students regarding the harm caused by the use of illegal drugs.
Liberty Hill Independent School District has chosen Melody’s Southwest Consortium, hereinafter referred to as Consortium, to conduct random student drug tests for high school students, 9th - 12th grades. Random urine testing began in September of 2019. Melody’s Southwest Consortium will send certified technicians to Liberty Hill High School to perform these tests.
Those subject to testing are any student in extracurricular activities, including but are not limited to: UIL athletics, band, cheerleading, choir, theater, dance, FFA, FCCLA, DECA, Student Council, National Honor Society, or those who have a high school campus parking permit.
The student’s name, student ID number, and grade only.
Consortium will randomly select between 150-200 students from a list provided by the campus.
Negative tests will be shared with the campus principal.
Positive tests will be shared with the student’s parent(s) or legal guardian(s), campus principal, director of activity, head sponsor of activity, and, if necessary, the campus healthcare provider.

Yes. School-age individuals will need signatures on school permission documentation.

The parent or legal guardian will have 5 days to submit documentation to the campus principal for such medications. For additional details, please refer to FNF Local Policy, page 4: Confirmation of Positive Results.
